Can We change Particulars of DIN ?
Yes. Once an individual gets his DIN, the information filed during obtaining such DIN may change from time to time with respect to name, email id, address etc. Hence, such individual is required to intimate to the central government for Changes in DIN Details by form DIR-6.
Thus in this article we shall discuss about the detailed procedure, purpose and requirements while applying for change in particulars of DIN.

Procedure For DIN Changes
Form DIR-6 pursuant to Rule 12 (1) of the Companies (Appointment and Qualification of Directors) Rules, 2014 & Rule 10 of Limited Liability Partnership Rules, 2009 is required to be filed with central government for change in particulars of Director/Designated Partner.

Certification of DIN Change Form DIR-6
Form DIR-6 must be certified by a practicing Chartered Accountant or Cost Accountant or Company Secretary. The professional must also provide their membership number and attest the supporting documents attached with DIR-6.

Approval of Changes in DIN details
For making changes in DIN DIR-6 need to be filed , a challan will be generated for the user to track the filling status. The form shall be verified by the MCA officer and either approve the form if the same if fulfilled in every terms or shall be sent for resubmission if the officer has a reason to believe that any of the document is not uploaded.

Form DIR-3 is the form which is filed with ROC for opting the DIN of the individual. It is a online form. It contains the following basic information of the proposed director-
- Applicants Name
- Fathers Name
- Whether a citizen of India
- Occupation Type
- Education Qualification
- Date of Birth, Gender
- PAN No
- Permanent Residential Address
- Email Id and Phone No
- Present Residential Address

Modes of obtaining DIN upon Nature of DIN
Depending upon the nature of DIN, A DIN can be obtained by following 2 modes-
| Sr No | Nature of DIN | Form Type |
| 1 | In case of new Company Registration | Form SPICE is filed for obtaining DIN in case of new company registration. Along with Company registration, DIN upto 2 directors can also be obtained simultaneously whereby the professional like CA/CS/CMA certifies the form. |
| 2 | In case of Existing company | Form DIR-3 is filed in case of existing company whereby the director of the existing company certified the form via his DSC. |

When to Apply For Change DIN Details
As per Rule 12 (1) of the Companies (Appointment and Qualification of Directors) Rules, 2014 & Rule 10 of Limited Liability Partnership Rules, 2009, every individual who has been allotted a Director Identification Number under these rules shall, in the event of any change in his particulars of director/ designated partner like- For following reasons changes in DIN need to be filed.
- Name of the Director/ Designated Partner
- Fathers name
- Nationality
- Date of Birth
- Gender
- Income Tax PAN
- Voters Identity card number
- Passport Number
- Driving License Number
- Permanent Residential Address
